Venue

The sessions and keynotes will be held at the University Club (Thursday afternoon) and the world famous Cathedral of Learning (Friday and Saturday).

The conference will begin with a keynote presentation by Prof. Ann Cvetkovich on Thursday, 5 p.m., followed by a reception.

Participants needing access to the internet should consider using Eduroam if their home institution is part of this program.

A cafe is available on Friday in the basement of the Cathedral of Learning. 

Lodging

A block of 100 rooms at $143/night is reserved at the Wyndham Pittsburgh University Center just off campus [100 Lytton Ave, Pittsburgh PA 15213].

The conference rate will be available until Wednesday March 9th, 2016. Wheelchair accessible rooms are available in the block.

Also within walking distance is: The Hilton Garden Inn,  3454 Forbes Avenue, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, 15213. A block of 25 rooms will be available until 3/2/16 at the rate of $144. To reserve, guests should call 412-683-2040 and identify themselves as part ot the University of Pittsburgh Gender studies body conference to receive the conference rate [group code: BGS], or reserve on-line.

Registration Fee

Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, the registration fee is waived for Pitt faculty, staff, and students and all conference presenters.

Other attendees are invited to make a donation to GSWS, but will not be charged a fee (see http://gsws.pitt.edu/alumni-friends/support-womens-studies to make a contribution). Please note that a donation will help us cover our expenses.

Some meals will be provided for presenters (breakfast and lunch on Friday and Saturday).

A final conference dinner will be held on Saturday evening at 7:30 at a local Italian restaurant five minutes from the Cathedral of Learning (Lucca), but requires prepayment (registration now closed). There will be vegetarian and non-vegetarian options.

Registration for non-presenters is available on the sidebar to the right. All attendees are required to register for the conference. You can also register in situ (pre-registration is not required). Please consider making a donation to our program (see above).

Program

The conference program is available on the "Program" tab. Breakout sessions will take place on Friday and Saturday all day with 7-9 simultaneous sessions.

There will be a mix of discussion-based sessions of recent or forthcoming books (including Prof. McRuer's), performances, and presentation-based panels.

Presenters on two-person panels should present for 30 minutes. Those on three-person panels should present for 20 minutes maximum to leave time for discussion.

A laptop and projector will be available in all the rooms where presentations are being held. Presenters should bring presentations/media on a flash drive. 

Meals for Presenters

Coffee and continental breakfast will be offered each day for presenters. On Friday, box lunches will be provided. On Saturday, a buffet lunch will be provided at Bridges restaurant at the Wyndham hotel. Pre-registration is required (now closed). There are numerous local restaurants and cafes within easy walking distance. A list will be offered in the welcome packet. A cafe is available on Friday in the basement of the Cathedral of Learning. 

Undergraduate Conference

We are planning an undergraduate conference on the same topic to run alongside this conference, with special undergraduate keynote Kate Bornstein.

Transport from the Airport
